Tailless whipscorpions may look like spiders, but different obviously in pedipalps on the front of the head, which are large and distinctive, segmented and spiky, serving for predation. Their first pair of legs are specially long like a pair of whips, whose tibiae and tarsusi are segmented with sensors to detect the location of prey, functioning similarly to insect antennae. They live in the tropical areas, normally hiding under rocks or bark. Presently, their traces are only found in Dominican amber, which are very rare fossils.
