螨蜱屬「蛛形綱」螨蜱亞綱，是身長僅數毫米的小寄生蟲，大多倚附於其它生物身上以表皮組織或血液為食，其外型像小蜘蛛但無明顯的頭胸腹節，具有發達的口器。它們是琥珀中少見的族群，一般較常見者為植食性的葉螨或寄生於小昆蟲身上的寄生螨，寄生於動物身上吸食血液的蜱也稱壁蝨則更為罕見，在琥珀中還可發現它們寄生於宿主身上的珍貴畫面。
Acari belong to Arachnida, a subclass, which are small parasites with a length of several mm. They are mostly attached to other organisms and feed on the cuticle or blood. They look like small spiders but have no obvious segments of head, thorax and abdomen, possessing advanced mouthparts. They are a rare group in amber. Generally the common ones are herbivorous leaf miners or parasite mites that live on small insects. Wall lice that suck blood from host animals are even rarer. In amber, precious pictures of these parasites with their hosts can still be found.
