樹脂的黏度無法困住活動力強的大型生物,在琥珀中見到任何尺寸超過一公分以上的昆蟲已屬不易,不難想像比昆蟲更巨大的生物要被完整包覆於琥珀中形成化石更是難上加難。
琥珀中的大型生物化石除了極罕見的蜥蝪、青蛙之外,至今仍未發現鳥類的完整個體或殘骸,不過琥珀中仍發現了它們的羽毛、糞便等化石,雖然未見全貌,但科學家仍可由其中得到一些相關線索與訊息。
The viscosity of resin cannot trap large organisms with strong vigor. It is very hard to see any insect in a size of more than 1 cm in amber. It is imaginable that it is all the more difficult to completely wrap a life form huger than insects by amber and fossilize it.
Large-sized fossil organisms in amber include very rare lizards and frogs, but there are no traces of intact birds or remains so far. However, fossils of feathers and excrement have been found in amber. Even without a complete picture, scientist could still gain some relevant clues and information from them.
