Mayflies can be called a living fossil among insects. As the earliest winged insect, its ancestor fossil was found in the late Carboniferous 350 million years ago. It has a pair of big eyes resembling dragonfly, but they are two different kinds of insects. Its chance of appearing in amber is low, featuring long cerci.
