Web Spinners

Web spinners are a small order with only 8 families. With silk glands, their forelegs can secrete silk to make a web for protecting their group from predators. Although they live on tree trunks, it is very rare to find them in amber. Their body length is between 5-8 mm. The females have no wings and could be mistaken for termites. The third tarsus on their foreleg is distinctively enlarged, a clue for identifying.
