琥珀的奇幻世界

2001年於波羅的海琥珀中發現的活化石，並為它成立一個新的昆蟲目。這種昆蟲外形近似螳螂與竹節蟲的混合體，屬肉食性昆蟲，雖然沒有螳螂的鐮刀狀前肢，但會以強有力的前腳使獵物無法動彈，科學家也稱它們為「戰士蟲」。目前只有在波羅的海琥珀中才能發現其蹤跡，是極稀有的琥珀化石。

In 2001, a living fossil was found in Baltic amber and then a new insect order was created. This group of carnivorus insects resemble a mix of mantids and phasmids. Without sickle-shaped forelimb like mantids, their forelegs are strong enough to immobilize prey. Scientists call them gladiators. Presently they can only be found in Baltic amber, which are very rare fossils.
